Flights of Fancy

New Exhibition up in Flakoll Gallery in Renaissance Hall! Flights of Fancy features collaborative kites and lanterns produced by Art 124 Foundation Design students. Students worked together to design and build the structure of the kites and lanterns using traditional materials bamboo and rice paper. In addition to the design of the structure, an investigation of relief printing methods provided students an opportunity to print designs and imagery onto the rice paper. Utilizing wood, sintra, and linoleum as a matrix, students explored narrative content in relation to the nearly 3,000 year old history of kite and lantern design.
